Employer Risk Management

Risk management deals with knowing the laws, understanding the boundaries between proper conduct and improper conduct by an employer and utilizing the law to inform the employer of what they believe is improper conduct and to change that conduct.   Most employers welcome such communication by the employee because they realize that if there is violation of law or risky behavior in the workplace, it is the front-line supervisor or manager that may be overstepping their boundaries of good conduct. My goal in representing employers is to develop those policies and provide the guidance in implementing those policies to anticipate potential claims before they grow into a big problem.  This concept can equally apply to the employee; with the pervasive access to laws on the internet, there is no reason that an employee does not know what laws would apply to them in the workplace.
